Escalin

The weft yarn used is coarser than the warp which really works well with this crushed effect. While it appears as if the surface is crushed, it is totally flat. One of the last steps in this production process is embossing. Embossing has two benefits: 1. It eliminates the risk of any strong creases/pleats sticking out and 2. It results in a moiré-like effect on the wall.
